Why Hearthroot

What makes these courses different

Plain language throughout

Financial terms are explained the moment they appear. No assumed knowledge, no jargon left unexplained.

Paced for working adults

Sessions are short and spaced out. You complete each module in your own time, without pressure to rush through material.

One usable tool per course

Every course ends with something concrete — a calendar, a folder, an annotated statement — rather than a certificate and a vague sense of having learned.

Built for Malaysian households

Examples use EPF, PTPTN, Malaysian bank statements, and local insurance structures — not generic Western financial models.

No products sold, ever

Hearthroot does not sell financial products. These are education courses. There is nothing to upsell at the end of a session.

Considerate, not prescriptive

The courses acknowledge that households differ. Guidance is offered as options, not instructions. You decide what fits your situation.

Common Questions

Things people usually ask first

Do I need any financial background to join?
No. The courses assume no prior knowledge. They are written for adults who have been managing a household for years but were never formally taught how to read the documents that arrive each month.
How are the sessions delivered?
Courses are conducted in small groups at our Ipoh centre. Some modules include printed worksheets to work through at home between sessions. Group sizes are kept small so there is space to ask questions.
Are these courses suitable if I have already retired?
Yes. The Household Reference Folder course in particular is popular among people in their fifties and early sixties who want to put their affairs in clear order — for their own peace of mind and for the people around them.
What does the course fee cover?
All printed materials, worksheets, templates, and where applicable the email follow-up support are included. There are no additional costs charged during or after the course.
Can my spouse or adult child attend with me?
A household partner attending the same course is welcome and is often a practical idea — particularly for the Household Reference Folder course. Please ask about household pricing when you enquire.
Do you offer any kind of payment arrangement?
We can discuss payment in two instalments for the longer courses. Please mention this when you make an enquiry and we will explain what is available.
Is my personal financial information kept private?
Course exercises use your own documents, which you handle yourself. You share only what you choose to share during group discussions. We do not collect, record, or store any participant financial data.
