Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device (computer, tablet, or phone) when you visit. They are widely used to make websites work as expected, to remember your preferences, and to give website owners a basic understanding of how their pages are being used.
Cookies are not programs. They cannot run software, carry viruses, or access files on your device. They simply store a small amount of text that the website can read when you return.
Hearthroot uses only a modest number of cookies, in keeping with our aim to be a straightforward, transparent service. We do not use cookies for advertising profiling or cross-site tracking.
2. The Cookies We Use
Essential Cookies
Always active — required for the site to function
These cookies are necessary for the website to work correctly. Without them, core functions such as navigating between pages and using the contact form would not operate. Because they are strictly necessary, they cannot be switched off.
Analytics Cookies
Help us understand how the site is being used
These cookies collect information about which pages are visited, how long visitors stay, and which links are followed. The data helps us understand what is useful and what could be improved. The information is aggregated and does not identify individual visitors.
Marketing Cookies
Used to personalise and measure advertising
Marketing cookies allow us to measure the reach of any announcements we may place on third-party platforms, and to avoid showing the same information repeatedly to people who have already seen it. We do not use these for intrusive ad-targeting profiles.
Preference Cookies
Remember your settings across visits
These cookies remember small choices you have made — such as your language setting or display preferences — so that you do not need to re-select them each time you visit.
3. Your Cookie Preferences
Use the toggles in the section above to set your preferences. Then use one of the buttons below to save your choices. Your selection is stored in your browser and will be remembered when you return.
4. Cookie Duration
Cookies fall into two broad categories based on how long they persist:
- Session cookies These are temporary and are removed from your device as soon as you close your browser. They are used to maintain continuity within a single visit.
- Persistent cookies These remain on your device for a set period after your visit — typically between 90 days and 2 years, depending on their purpose. They can be removed at any time through your browser settings or by using the "Essential Only" button above.
5. Managing Cookies in Your Browser
You can also control cookies directly through your browser settings. Below are brief guides for the most commonly used browsers. Note that blocking all cookies may affect how some websites function.

6. Your Rights
- Right to withdraw consentYou may change or withdraw your consent at any time using the toggles on this page, or through your browser settings. Withdrawing consent for optional cookies does not affect the validity of consent given earlier.
- Right to access informationYou have the right to ask us what personal data we hold about you, including any data gathered through cookies. Please email [email protected] to make a request.
- Effect of disabling cookiesDisabling optional cookies will not prevent you from using this website or contacting us. Essential cookies, however, are required for core functionality and cannot be switched off.
